You take a right on 80th
Follow it around and then you hang a left
Just a couple houses down

Our houses were castles on the edge of the world
And each yard a kingdom over which we’d rule
But the streets, now they were fair game

And Billy and David would each their bikes like
Silver steeds with all their might
And we’d all head off down Indian Trail

Way down into foreign territory
Past the houses of our schoolyard enemies
And we would return triumphant and strong

To Delaware Place

By the time we hit 8th grade
My Mother had died and Guy's family moved away
And we were all growing up

David made it up to high school
Billy grew taller but then he got really cool
And me I found my heart in the guitar

Bout that time the steel mills were winding down
The last great strike had hit come and gone; and all the families started leaving town
And the new ones started moving in

Our Brothers and Sisters went off to colleges
We started driving the same streets but now running with different kids
And we were moving farther away

Billy joined the Union just like our dads
David and me both rocked out of college, man our parents were so mad
But we’d all cast our lots

Billy's now become a William
And it was no surprise when David joined the Franciscans
But everyone was shocked when I put a uniform on

Well me and William, we still keep in touch every now and then
Brothers from different mothers up till the very end
And when we get together we still talk about

Guess it’s coming up on a year since you left
And seems like a good time to reflect...

I’d become someone that today even I wouldn't recognize

And just how fast they can die

Well I still remember your perfume
And the way you would smile when you walked into the room

But I can’t remember what I did to make you leave
I’m all but sure it had something to do with me

So half the world I moved away
Funny how a year can feel like a day
And it still hurts just like it was

It all started way back with Adam and Eve
And true Cain never really had a good handle
On the gifts he didn't have to take to receive
